JICA and JATI jointly organise an online seminar on case management
Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) and Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) jointly organised a seminar on case management on November 30, 2020 to generate knowledge about case management in the civil courts among the judicial officers of Bangladesh. The seminar was approved by Honourable Supreme Court and Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
The session was conducted online. Forty five Judicial Officers selected from the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs participated in the seminar. It was a daylong seminar from 10 am to 4 pm. The seminar was divided into two phases.
Mr. Md. Golam Kibria, Director (Administration) of the JATI, made opening remarks highlighting the significance and aim of this session. Dr. Md. Alamgir, Deputy Director (publication and research) of the JATI, coordinated the seminar.
Mr. Ryota Shitamichi Sun, Government Attorney, International Cooperation Department, Research and Training Institute, Ministry of Justice, Japan delivered the keynote speech. In the first phase, Mr. Sun shed light upon the different aspects of the civil suit management in Japan. He depicted the various problems faced by the judiciary of Japan in the way of early disposal of civil suits. He also discussed the steps undertaken by the Judiciary of Japan to increase the disposal of the civil suits.
Then an open conversation was held in the second phase. Judicial officers shared their opinions and ideas on the current situation of caseloads in the civil courts. They depicted the problems prevailing in the civil courts in Bangladesh which are responsible for slowing down the disposal of civil suits. They also made their valuable suggestions to improve the present conditions of the civil courts.
At the end, Mr. Md. Golam Kibria, Director (Administration) of the JATI, concluded the seminar with appreciation to the Keynote speaker for his valuable time and all the Judicial Officers participating in the seminar for making it a successful one.
