Digital Security Act: Court fixes April 22 for hearing petition to show ‘Shishu Bokta’ Rafiqul arrested
A Dhaka court will virtually hear on April 22 the petition submitted to show Rafiqul Islam Madani, widely known as "Shishu Bokta", arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
The court will also hear the 10-day remand prayer the same day, an official of the General Recording Office at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court confirmed to The Daily Star.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufiyan Md Noman today fixed the date and sent a virtual link to the jail authorities of Kashimpur High Security Jail who are the custodians of Madani.
An inspector of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and also the investigation officer of the case on Sunday submitted a petition for showing Madani arrested in the case filed with Motijheel Police Station.
The IO also submitted a 10-day remand prayer for quizzing Madani about the incident.
Earlier on April 8, one Syed Adnan Shanto filed the case with Motijheel Police Station against Madani bringing allegation of making anti-state remarks and inciting chaos.
Apart from Madani, four others -- Mohammad Amzad, Mahmudul Hassan Murtuza, HM Lokman Hossain and Tawhid Islam -- were accused in the case.
He mentioned in the First Information Report that Madani had made various anti-state and chaos inciting remarks on YouTube and other social media platforms.
At the same time, violence had taken place at different places across the country what deteriorated the law and order situation.
Earlier on April 7, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Madani from his ancestral home in Netrokona's Purbatola area.
