Land disputes leave 2 dead
Two people were killed over land disputes in Bogra and Rangpur districts yesterday and the day before.
Our Bogra correspondent reported that a young man was stabbed to death by his uncle during an altercation between his two cousins over a disputed land at Partekur Northpara in Shahjahanpur upazila of the district yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Arafat, 24, son of Chand Mia.
Police quoted locals as saying that there was a long-standing dispute between Mirajul Howlader, 25, and his brother Abdul Malek Howlader, 27.
Malek and Mirajul locked in an altercation over planting trees on the disputed land at around 7:30am. As their nephew Arafat tried to pacify the both, Mirajul stabbed him.
Locals rushed Arafat to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH), where the doctors declared him dead.
In Rangpur, a man was killed by his younger brother following a feud over a piece of land at Madhabpur village under Rangpur Sadar upazila on Wednesday, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was identified Shekander Ali Badsha, 57, son of late Shahjahan Mia of the village.
