Laila Sharmeen exhibits at Barcelona Art Fair
Bangladeshi artist Laila Sharmeen is showcasing her recent works in mixed media at the two-day Barcelona International Art Fair, now renamed BCN ART, which opened on Friday at Gaudí's architectural masterpiece Casa Batlló, the most emblematic work of the brilliant Catalan architect.
Sharmeen took part in the two-day prestigious art fair titled Art Shopping at the Carrousel du Louvre in October, and Art Expo New York in April this year.
“The art fair will be even bigger and better than last year's”, said directors of the fair Natal Vallve and Joelle Dinnage; “With a great selection of fine artworks showing a wide variety from 120 international exhibitors, it's a spectacular event for both exhibitors and visitors.”
The Barcelona edition shows work by artists from 32 different countries, including the award-winning 'A playground for artists' displaying urban photography art by a selection of Dutch artists. Also on show will be Milly Martionou. Furthermore, the Moproo Gallery Shangai will be representing the award-winning German artist Marc Schmitz, who is mostly known for the openness of space in his artistic works. Amongst others, Marc was awarded with the first prize for Art For Expo 2000 World Expo in Hanover, Germany, and with the special prize of the jury at the 10th Cairo Biennial.
Another highlight and must-see are various works by well-known British street artist Banksy, presented by the new InVogue Art Gallery (UK).
