Killings in Libya: HC grants bail to accused Shanjida
The High Court today granted bail to Mosammat Shanjida in a case filed over the killing of 26 Bangladeshis in Libya on May 28.
The bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order following a petition filed by Shanjida, seeking bail in the case.
The HC granted bail to Shanjida as there is no specific allegation against her of human trafficking, Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah told The Daily Star.
He, however, said the government will move an appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court challenging the HC order of bail.
DAG Bashir Ullah said several cases were filed on charges of human trafficking after 26 Bangladeshi national were killed Libya on May 28.
Police arrested Shanjida from her Moghbazar's Sonalibagh residence on June 8 in connection with a case filed with Paltan Police Station on June 5.
Shanjida filed the bail petition with the HC through her lawyer Md Kamruzzaman Kachi on September 3.
