Kidnapped boy rescued, woman held

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Wednesday rescued a 6-year-old boy, kidnapped on Monday from Phulgazi upazila in the district.
Abdullah Al Mahmud alias Duranta, son of Italy expatriate Abdus Sattar of Penapushkarni village under Amjadhat union was kidnapped by two local goons on February 6 when the boy was playing in a field near his house in the afternoon.
Later they demanded Tk 6 lakh from the family of Duranta, a Class I student, and threatened his family of dire consequences of they informed the matter to the law enforcers.
However, Shahadat Hossain, uncle to the child, filed a general diary with Phulgazi Police Station and informed Rab-7 about the incident.
Following the information, a Rab team rescued the boy from Laksham area in Comilla district on Wednesday evening and detained a woman, identified as Jahanara Begum, in this connection.
