Khaleda to visit Narayanganj May 14
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will visit Narayanganj May 14 to meet the families of the city’s slain panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others.
The BNP chief had planned to hold a rally in the city to express her solidarity with the people in the Narayanganj but she had to change the programme as the city mayor and district administration both denied permission.
“Madam will go to Narayanganj at 12:00pm on May 14 to console the families as we did not get permission to hold a rally,” President of Narayanganj district BNP Taimur Alam Khondaker told The Daily Star this afternoon.
Narayanganj district administration yesterday refused to give the BNP permission to hold the rally in the city on May 14, saying police will not be able to provide security of the gathering as they are busy investigating seven murders.
Earlier Wednesday night, Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy refused permission to hold the rally saying she was unable to give permission, considering the law and order in the city.
