Khaleda to address Munshiganj rally May 28
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will address a rally in Munshiganj on May 28 protesting abductions, forced disappearances and killings across the country including Narayanganj seven-murder.
"We took all the preparation to hold the rally in Launch Ghat area of Munshiganj on May 28," Rizvi Ahmed, joint secretary general of BNP, told reporters at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan office in the capital.
The party has already received permission from Dhaka Metropolitan Police for holding the rally in Munshiganj, party sources said.
Earlier, Khaleda was scheduled to address a rally in Narayanganj on May 14 protesting the abduction and killing of seven people including panel mayor Nazrul Islam.
But district administration on May 8 refused to give permission to BNP for the rally, saying police will not be able to provide security of the gathering as they are busy investigating the seven murders.
On April 27, seven people -- Nazrul Islam and his four associates and Chandan Sarker and his driver -- were kidnapped separately, but around the same time from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.
Six bodies were found in the Shitalakkhya river three days later and another the next day.
