Key accused in AL leader murder found dead
The main accused in upazila-level Awami League leader Saiful Islam murder case was found dead in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj early today.
On January 13, the No. 2 accused in the murder case– Bablu -- was killed in a "gunfight" with the members of Rapid Action Battalion in Sirajganj.
Saiful, the youth and sports secretary of Sadar upazila AL unit, was stabbed to death at Baoitara village of the upazila on December 30 last year.
Zoban Ali, 45, of Baoitpara village of the upazila, was a fugitive in eight cases including the murder of Saiful, said Habibul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station.
Locals first saw the bullet-hit body lying on a filed under a bridge in Konagati area early today and immediately informed police, reports our Pabna correspondent.
On information, police rushed there and recovered the body around 6:00am.
Police sent the body to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
