JS session to continue till April 3
The ongoing session of the 10th parliament will continue till April 3.
The Business Advisory Committee took the decision at a meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today.
Chaired by Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the meeting was attended among others by Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina, opposition leader Raushan Ershad, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mia.
The 10th parliament went into session on January 29.
In the meeting, it was decided that 45 hours discussion will be held on President Abdul Hamid’s speech in parliament.
However the Speaker will have the authority to bring change in this regard.
On the inaugural day’s sitting of first session of 10th parliament, the president read out a set of speeches in the House that reflected the government's views on most political issues, because it was basically drafted by the government.
Speaking on the thanks giving motion on president’s speech, almost all opposition lawmakers have so far highly lauded Abdul Hamid for his speech in the House which is unprecedented in the country’s parliamentary history.
It was informed in the meeting that so far three treasury bills and three private bills were submitted in the Parliament Secretariat for placing in the ongoing session.
