Joy seeks vote for 'boat' in Rangpur
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has urged people to vote for the 'boat' symbol in the January 5 parliamentary election for continued development of the country.
Joy came to Rangpur yesterday afternoon as part of his mother's election campaign for the 10th parliamentary election on January 5.
Sheikh Hasina, also president of ruling Awami League, is contesting the elections from the Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency in Rangpur district.
She was elected lawmaker from the constituency in the last national election held on December 29 in 2008.
Addressing a wayside rally at Chetona High School ground at Bhendabari union in Pirganj upazila, Joy said, "People know who have contributed to the country's development. The Awami League-led government has implemented most of its electoral commitments given to the people of Rangpur. Now it is your turn to re-elect my mother again for continued peace and development of the country.”
"The government has started trial of those who committed crimes against humanity during the Liberation War. War criminal Abdul Qader Mollah has already been executed. Trial of other war criminals should also be complete step by step.
Later he addressed another two wayside rally in Pirganj.
