JnU student burnt as 2 buses torched in Dhaka

A female student of Jagannath University suffered burn injuries as pickets torched two buses in Dhaka during the countrywide nonstop blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Injured Sultana Diba, 23, a masters student of the public university, received primary treatment at Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital, said Abani Sanker Kar, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station.
She sustained the burn injuries when miscreants set fire to a Jatrabari-bound bus of Prime Paribahan from Comilla around 9:45am, the OC said.
Meanwhile, a minibus was set ablaze in Mirpur around 7:30am but none was reported hurt, according to an official at Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The arson attacks took place when the 20-party alliance is observing an indefinite blockade since January 5 in protesting against the confinement of its chief Khaleda Zia to her Gulshan residence.
The BNP chairperson is kept confined at the office since January 3.
