Unidentified criminals abducted a boy from his Kapashatia village residence in Harinakundo upazila of Jhenidah on Thursday night.
Son of Murad Ali, an expatriate in Malaysia, Hasan Ali, 13, is a JSC examinee of Valki Secondary School in the upazila.
A gang of five to six abductors wearing masks entered the house and picked up Hasan at gunpoint while he was asleep with his mother Anjira Khatun, said his uncle Younus Ali.
When Anjira tried to resist the culprits, they pushed her away, he said.
A case was filed with Harinakundo Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge Ershadul Kabir said they were investigating the incident.
