Israel’s raw terror

We apologise to our readers for this intrusion into their Eid-related happiness. It is the sheer barbarity of what the state of Israel has been engaged in that compels us to write. The hundreds who have been murdered in Gaza, the children whose lives have swiftly been snuffed out by Netanyahu's terrorism, the fear which today stalks the Palestinian people --- these make up the tragedy we cannot look away from.

Parents continue burying their children in Gaza. Others witness, helplessly, the wails of children badly burnt by Israeli bombs in overcrowded hospitals. These children, and other Palestinian children, will grow into adulthood with notions of militancy. Some among them will not live normal lives. And yet the world does not care. Hardly a whisper of protest has come from neighbouring Arab states. The UN passes, with alacrity and in unanimity and for good reason, a resolution condemning the shooting down of an aircraft in Ukraine. It has no time for a similar resolution to be adopted on the predatory instincts which govern Israeli behaviour today.
Television networks in the West seem obsessed with Hamas. That thirty three Israeli soldiers have been killed in battle is the obsession. That more than a thousand Palestinians have died at the hands of Israel's war machine is treated, so to speak, as collateral damage.
Gaza is the story, once again, of a people murdered in organized fashion, with the world looking away. Its surviving children, traumatized into premature knowledge of bad geopolitics, should not be expected to look upon Israel with generosity. Israel, remember, is today a purveyor of raw terror.
