Impunity for ruling party men creating godfathers
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday said fresh godfathers were emerging around the country, as the government did not take action against the ruling party men who were involved in crimes.
"The term 'godfather' was not so common. They can do any thing. None is here to take any steps against them that instigated others to do more crimes," he said at a programme through which some leaders of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal [Rob] joined JP at his Banani office in the capital.
An alternative government has been created by the godfathers, alleged Ershad, also a special envoy to the prime minister.
Criticising the Narayanganj police, he said though many days had passed since the seven-murder in the district, police failed to arrest the main accused Nur Hossain.
