Idol vandalised, house looted in Madaripur

Criminals vandalised an idol at Kali temple in Shibchar upazila of the district early yesterday.
During the visit to the temple, the family members of one Amalesh Karmaker of Arjyadatapara village found the vandalised idol in the morning.
Being informed, DM Belayet Hossain, officer in-charge of Shibchar Police Station, visited the spot.
The gang damaged the idol anytime on Sunday night, said police.
Nani Gopal, a resident of nearby the temple, demanded immediate arrest of the culprits who ransacked the idol.
Meanwhile, armed robbers looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Tk 3 lakh from the house of a teacher after injuring two people at Arjyadatapara village in the upazila early yesterday.
The injured are Abdul Wahab Paloan, 60, headmaster of TN Academy at Dattapara and his wife Maya Begum, 45, a teacher of Suryanagar Mahfuza Nishad Girls' High School. They were admitted to Faridpur Medical Hospital.
Family sources said a gang of 10/12 entered the house of Abdul Wahab Paloan by cutting the grill of the window.
