Brathwaite fined for breaching ICC code of conduct

West Indies allrounder Carlos Brathwaite has been fined 15 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point for "showing dissent at an umpire's decision" against India in Manchester on June 27.

In the 42nd over, Brathwaite protested against the umpire’s decision of calling a wide off his delivery to Hardik Pandya. It was a slower bouncer on middle and leg from the Windies allrounder which missed an attempted pull from Pandya and was later called wide. Brathwaite seemed unhappy with the decision which led to the protest. The incident was reported by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth official Aleem Dar.    

Brathwaite admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Chris Broad, the match referee, and so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Brathwaite now has two demerit points since the introduction of the revised code in September 2016.
