I have been flooded with my fans' love--- Shahnaz Khushi
Shahnaz Khushi, who embarked on her career as a theatre artiste, is now a popular face on the small screen. The Daily Star recently interviewed the actress.
What was your ambition at an early age?
Shahnaz: I dreamt of becoming a doctor early on as, believe it or not, I had a fascination for doctors' coats and their demeanour.

Shahnaz: The day I performed my first play at Mahila Samiti for theatre troupe Arannak Nattyadal. I am really grateful to renowned playwright and actor Mamunur Rashid who chose me to play a lead role in Arannak's drama “Joyjointi”.
Who were your favourite actors?
Shahnaz: Ferdousi Majumder, Humayun Faridee and Subarna Mostafa. I admire Shomi Kaiser as well.
Which were your remarkable stage plays?
Shahnaz: I worked with Arannak Nattyadal for about three years. I performed in almost all the plays of the theatre troupe like “Lebdef” and “Ghumer Manush”. Later, I joined Prachyanat and performed in its plays “Circus Circus”, “Dui Border Golpo”, “Dorir Khela” and “Khandte Mana”. I am one of the founding members of Prachyanat.
Tell us about your favourite theatre project.
Shahnaz: Definitely, “Joyjointi”, a story based on the Liberation War where I played a heart-rending character named Amena . If I had my present acting skills, I would have played the role of Amena far better.
What is the secret of a happy family?
Shahnaz: Definitely, sacrifice. For a happy family one has to respect each other's feelings and dreams.
What is the biggest compliment from your fans?
Shahnaz: I have been flooded with their love. They call me Khushi Apa in the media world which is a great compliment for me. I am really grateful to my fans for this honour.
Do share something about your overseas fans…
Shahnaz: I have received a great deal of love from them. While I was receiving the Dhallywood Award at the stage in New York for the first time, my expatriate fans stood up in my honour. The experience still resonates in my mind.
