Humayun Faridee's second death anniversary today
Today is the second death anniversary of Humayun Faridee, a celebrated actor and one of the brightest silver screen stars of the country. He was a popular actor who mesmerised the audience for over two decades with his powerful versatile acting skills in theatre, television drama and cinema.
Faridee was born in Dhaka in May 29, 1952 to ATM Nurul Islam and Begaum Farida Islam. In 1968, he completed his SSC from Islamia Government High School and in 1970 he did his HSC from Chandpur Government College. The same year, he joined the University of Dhaka in Organic Chemistry. However, due to the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, his studies came to a halt. Later he was enrolled at Jahangirnagar University in Economics. His passion for acting began in his childhood. In the early 1980s, he joined Dhaka Theatre.
Faridee was well-known for his extraordinary portrayal of roles in varied plays, which included “Songsaptak”, “Pathar Shomoy”,” Dui Bhai”, “Sheeter Pakhi”, “ Kothao Keu Nei”, “Shomudre Gangchil” and” Kachher Manush”.
Midway in his theatre career, Faridee joined films and won the hearts of millions through his work. Some of his prominent movies were “Dohon”, “Hulia”, “Shontrash”, “Bachelor”, “Ekattorer Jishu”, “Mayer Morjada” and “Aha”. He also directed a few TV plays.
