Housewife killed for 'dowry'

A housewife was beaten to death by her husband allegedly for dowry in Baruipara village under Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.
The victim was identified as Rima Saha, 20, wife of Nimai Saha.
Nimai married Rima, daughter of Dipak Saha of Terokhada upazila of Khulna in February 2012.
Rima's brother Ripon Kumar Saha said Nimai had been putting pressure on Rima for dowry since there marriage.
On Tuesday, Nimai locked in an altercation with Rima over the issue and at one stage, he beat her dead.
Being informed, law enforcers from Bagerhat Model Police Station went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Nimai and his family members went into hiding soon after the incident.
