Hearing on appeal by Mojaheed starts today
The Supreme Court is set today to start hearing the appeal filed by Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed challenging the death penalty handed down to him for his war crimes.
On December 3 last year, a five-member bench of the Appellate Division fixed January 14 for the hearing.
The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on July 17, 2013 found Mojaheed guilty of five charges and sentenced him to death on three of those charges.
He filed the appeal with the SC on August 12, 2013 seeking acquittal of all the charges.
