Govt asks university students to register for vaccine by Sept 27
Students of all public and private universities will need to complete registration for getting Covid-19 vaccine by September 27.
University students who do not have national identity (NID) card will be able to register using birth registration card, said top officials of University Grants Commission (UGC) today.
These decisions were taken at a meeting today among Education Ministry, UGC, vice chancellors of public universities, and top health officials.
"If any university considers that all their students have completed registration, they can reopen any time based on approval of their academic council and syndicate," UGC Member Professor Muhammed Alamgir told The Daily Star after the meeting.
He said the decision was taken as Covid-19 infection rate has come down significantly.
He also said that health officials at the meeting assured that if university authorities provide the list of their students who do not have NID cards, they would allow the students to register with birth registration cards.
Education Minister Dipu Moni presided over the online meeting.
