HC extends bail of SQ Chy again
The High Court yesterday extended the bail of war crimes convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for one more year in a case over attacking minorities and extortion in 2006.
Following a petition filed by the BNP leader, the court also extended its order that had stayed the proceedings of the case for one year.
Assistant Attorney General Gazi Mamunur Rashid told The Daily Star that one Jasim Uddin on March 19, 2007 filed the case against Salauddin and 14 others for attacking a Hindu community in Lalanagar in Chittagong's Rangunia upazila and extorting them on July 31.
Earlier, the HC twice extended its bail and stay orders, said the AAG, adding that Salauddin still cannot be released from jail since he had been sentenced to death for committing crimes against humanity.
