Grameenphone appoints new tech chief

Medhat El Husseiny has been appointed chief technology officer (CTO) of Grameenphone, the nation's largest telecom operator said in a statement yesterday.

Husseiny, an Egyptian national with over 20 years of experience in telecom, served as CTO at Orascom Telecom Algeria (Djezzy). He was also a member of Vimpelcom Group's leadership team.

He has experience in operations management, corporate strategy, network development and operations, and negotiations and contract management, it said.

He also worked at Orascom Telecom Holding and Lucent Technologies in Egypt.

Husseiny is an engineer and holds a master's in telecommunication engineering from Benha University of Egypt, an MBA from Maastricht School of Management of Netherlands, and a master's certificate in project management from Stevens Institute of Technology, USA.
