Govt spreading propaganda on ‘dialogue’
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday alleged the government was spreading propaganda to derail the opposition’s movement.
In a statement, the BNP leader said, “Some ministers said a dialogue was going on behind the scenes, but I am clearly saying this illegal government does not want any consensus.”
Claiming that the government is getting weaker, Fakhrul said BNP activists were committed to continuing the movement until victory.
He said, “Most of the political parties are not participating in the polls, which indicates most of the people will not accept this farcical election.”
To resolve the impasse, polls schedule should be postponed and the government should resign and hold the polls under a non-party government, the BNP leader added.
He demanded immediate release of his party leaders and withdrawal of the “false cases” against them.
