Govt primary school torched in Pirojpur

In the first such incident of recent times, a primary school was burnt down in Kawkhali upazila of Pirojpur last night during BNP-led 20-party alliance's countrywide blockade.

Miscreants torched a remote South-East Jolagati Government Primary School in the cover of dark last night, our Pirojpur correspondent reports quoting Md Abdul Quader Beg, police's assistant superintendent in the district.

All the furniture, books and other valuable documents of the school was gutted in the fire, the police official said. "Miscreants set the fire last night," he said.

However, there was no report of injury in the arson. Police said they were trying their best to catch the culprits involved.
