Geetosudha pays tribute to Tagore
Geetosudha, a well-known music school in the capital, paid its musical tribute to Rabindranath Tagore marking the bard's 153rd birth anniversary. The event was held at the Sampan restaurant in Dhanmondi, on May 17.
A number of choral and solo renditions of Tagore songs were performed by artistes of Geetosudha, starting with “O Amar Desh'er Mati”. The choral performances included “Gram Chara Oi Rangamati'r Poth”, “Duubi Omrito Patharey” and more, while the solos included “Aguner Poroshmoni Chhowao Praney”, “Bhorisho Dhora Mahje” and “Bipul Torongo Rey”, among many others. Guest artiste Sarwar Hossain Babu performed “Sokhi Bhabona Kaharey Bole” and “Dakbo Na Dakbo Na”, while director of Geetosudha Papia Sarwar sang “O Keno Bhalobasha Janate Ashey” and “Majhe Majhe Tobo Dekha Pai”, before closing the programme with a choral rendition of “Purano Shei Diner Kotha” and the National Anthem, with participation from the audience.
