SSC results via text for the first time
For the very first time in the history of Bangladesh, the education boards have decided to send results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams to guardians' mobile phones via SMS.
The results would be published after Eid-ul-Fitr, Mahbub Hossain, secretary to the Secondary and Higher Education Division, told The Daily Star yesterday evening.
Monjurul Kabir, senior systems analyst of Dhaka Education Board, said they started sending messages to all mobile operators to alert their consumers about the process of receiving results of the exams.
"We hope that all the candidates or their guardians will register for receiving their results", he said.
Prof Ziaul Haque, chairman of Dhaka Education Board who is also the head of inter-board coordination committee, said the students would not be able to receive their results from educational institutions this year.
The government earlier planned to publish the results on May 7 or May 8, but failed to execute that for closure of educational institutions.
For the first time in the last eight years, the government would not be able to publish results within 60 days from completion of the public exam.
This year, the SSC exams began on February 3, with the theoretical and practical tests ending on February 27 and on March 6 respectively.
Some 2,047,779 students took part in the SSC and its equivalent examinations held at 3,512 centres.
Monjurul Kabir, said that like the previous years, results would be also available on the education boards' websites, and could also be received via SMS.
Examinees can get the results from the education board website [http://www.educationboardresults.gov.bd] and also from the websites of their respective education boards.
To know about SSC and equivalent results, pre-registration will continue till 24 hours before publishing the results.
