Bijoya Dashami today
Bijoya Dashami of the five-day Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, will be observed today.
The festival will come to an end with the emersion of the idols of goddess Durga in the rivers and water bodies today.
Durga Puja began on October 15 with the incarnation of the goddess Durga on the day of Maha Shashti at temples across the country.
Maha Saptami puja was observed on Tuesday, Maha Ashtami, Kumari Puja and Sandhi Puja on Wednesday and Maha Nabami Puja yesterday.
As many as 31,272 permanent and temporary pandals of Durga Puja have been erected across the country. This year puja pandals have been increased by 1195 compared to last year.
Security measures have been beefed up at temples and pandals with deployment of additional squads of Ansar, police, RAB and other law enforcement agencies.
According to government directives, the immersion of Durga's idol should be done between 3:00pm and 8:00pm.
