Ebtedai, JDC Exams: Pass rate, number of GPA-5 fall
The success rate in Ebtedai terminal and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations fell this year while the number of students achieving GPA 5 also came down.
According to the results published yesterday, the pass rate of Ebtedai exams is 92.94 percent, down from 95.85 percent last year.
A total of 5,023 students achieved GPA-5 this year while the number was 5,948 last year.
On the other hand, the pass rate in this year's JDC exams under the madrasa education board is 86.80 percent, dipping 7.22 percentage points from last year.
The number of GPA-5 achievers also saw a sharp fall this year with 7,231 gaining the achievement, a drop from last year's 12,529 candidates.
The number of students in JDC examinations (class-VIII) increased this year.
A total of 3, 78,579 students took part in the exams. The number was 3, 53,643 last year.
The girls outperformed the boys with a pass rate of 87.44 whereas the rate for boys was 86.03 percent. A total of 4,104 girls achieved GPA-5 while 3,127 boys achieved the highest grade.
However, the number of Ebtedai examinees decreased this year.
Some 2,54,399 class-V madrasa students -- 1,29,703 boys and 1,24,696 girls -- sat for the Ebtedai exams this year. Of them, 2,36,444 passed. The pass rates of girls and boys are 93.43 and 92.48 percent respectively.
Last year, the number of examinees was some 2, 57,500.
No students from 25 institutions could pass the exams. The number of such institutions was 20 last year.
Like in previous years, Rajshahi division had the highest pass rate of 96.28 percent among the seven divisions while Sylhet division was at the bottom with 86.92 percent.
A total of 61 upazilas saw 100 percent pass rate.
Among 351 students with special needs, 314 passed their examinations.
