Five of a family killed in B'baria road crash
Six people, including five of a family, were killed as a Sylhet-bound truck collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying them while overtaking a human hauler on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Islamabad in Sarail upazila yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were the auto-rickshaw passengers Md Shahjahan Mia, 43, his wife Rushena Begum, 40, their son Ashrafur Rahman, 8, and daughters Sapna Begum, 6, and Ratna Begum, 5, and the auto-rickshaw driver Abul Hossain, 42, of the upazila.
The human hauler driver, who was injured as the truck also hit the vehicle from the side, is undergoing treatment at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
Vehicular movement on the road was restored within an hour after police removed the truck and the mangled auto-rickshaw.
Our Madaripur correspondent reports, four people, including three female workers of a mill, were killed and fifteen others injured as a bus of Sakura Paribahan rammed a human hauler carrying the workers on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.
Madaripur Spinning Mills workers Shefali Sharker, 40, of Shashikar village, Champa Akhtar, 14, of Kawakuli village, and Happy Akhtar, 18, of Kendua village and the human hauler driver Shipon Hawladar, 25, died instantly.
