First death anniversary of Zillur Rahman observed

The first death anniversary of former president and veteran politician Zillur Rahman was observed through various programmes in the country yesterday.
President Zillur Rahman died on this day last year while undergoing treatment at a Singapore hospital. He served as the 19th president from February 12, 2009 till his death.
Different social and political organisations, including the ruling Awami League (AL), placed wreaths at the grave of the veteran AL leader in Banani in the morning.
President Abdul Hamid attended a milad mahfil after Asr prayers at Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended a milad mahfil at Zillur Rahman's Gulshan residence after the Asr prayers seeking peace of the departed soul.
