- Tajuddin Ahmed, general secretary of East Pakistan Awami League, in a statement for the upcoming Martyr’s Day, says anti-people vested quarter is conspiring to foil the effort to establish democracy and power handover to the representatives of people. He calls to stay alert against these conspirators. He says, general election has been held for the first time in 23 years and the governance policy is going to be made within a short period of time. Government is committed to transfer the power to people’s representatives.
- Police charge baton and fire on agitated students when they try to enter Indian Embassy in Islamabad. Many receive injuries. Sixty police personnel injured as students hurl brick chips. To settle the situation, ban imposed on rally, demonstration and carrying of guns by enforcing section 144.
- Pakistan government calls on ambassadors of different countries to the foreign ministries to inform them about the Indo-Pakistan relation downfall following the hijacking of an Indian aircraft by two Kashmiri youths.
