Faruqi, Moghbazar killings ‘nothing serious’: Minister
The incidents of the assassination of Shaikh Nurul Islam Faruqi and Moghbazar’s triple murder are “nothing serious”, State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said today.
“These are [the murders] separate incidents. Those are not as serious as the reporters are asking about it,” Kamal said while chairing a roundtable at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity auditorium, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The minister also asked citizens not to be worried about it.
“Investigation are on, we are working on the motives of the murders. We will publish the reports soon,” the minister added.
He also said Faruqi was assassinated by hired killers and a suspect was held today.
“On the other hand, the triple murder in Moghbazar took place following a dispute over grabbing a land. The murderers have been identified, will be arrested anytime soon,” he said.
“There is nothing to worry about it. It may happen once in a while,” the minister added.
Faruqi was slain in his Purba Razabazar residence in Dhaka by assailants on last Wednesday, which was followed by the killings of three people at Sonalibagh area of Moghbazar on Thursday.
