Fakhrul gets bail in murder case
The High Court today granted six months bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a murder case.
Police filed the case with Ramna Police Station on December 1, last year, a day after one, Habibur Rahman, was killed during an anti-government demonstration organised by the then BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance at Malibagh Chowdhurypara in the capital.
There is no legal bar to the release of Fakhrul from jail following the High Court order, Barrister AKM Ehsanur Rahman, a lawyer of Fakhrul, told The Daily Star.
The HC bench of Justice Borhanuddin and Justice KM Kamrul Kader granted the bail after hearing a petition filed by Fakhrul seeking bail in this case.
A Dhaka court on March 16 sent Fakhrul to jail in connection with four separate murder cases which were filed in December last year and January this year.
Later, he got bail in the cases from the HC and lower court.
