DoE fines AK Khan Group, former councillor, 2 others for damaging hills

The Department of Environment (DoE) in Chattogram today fined AK Khan Group and three others for damaging hills in Khulshi area of the port city.
The fines were imposed on them after a hearing at DoE Khulshi office today, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.
Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE Chattogram (metro) told The Daily Star that AK Khan Group was fined Tk 92,000 for razing 370 square feet of hills at VIP housing area while a former local councillor Mohammad Hiron was fined Tk 50,000 for the same offence in the same area.
Apart from this, one Khusrat-E-Khuda was fined Tk 4,44,000 for flattening 1,776 square feet of hills at VIP Housing and another man Shahjahan Haidar was fined Tk 1,87,000 in the same area, he added.
