Dolphin found dead at Halda River
A dolphin was found floating dead in the Halda River at Hathazari upazila of Chattogram today as the International Dolphin Day is being observed to conserve the endangered species.
The mammal was found at the Gorduyara area of the river this morning, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting Halda researcher Manzoorul Kibria.
"The scars found on the dolphin's body were deep and someone may have bludgeoned it to death," he told The Daily Star.
"With this, 32 dolphins were found dead in the Halda since 2017," he added.
Due to human activity over the years, many species of dolphins have become either endangered or critically endangered.
