Satyajit Ray’s ‘Pratidwandi’ screened at Cannes Film Festival
Renowned director Satyajit Ray's National Award winning film "Pratidwandi" was screened recently, at the Cannes Classics section. National Film Archive of India restored the 1970's classic film. Journalists from around the world enjoyed the special screening of the movie.
"Pratidwandi" is the first film from the "Kolkata Troyee" trilogy of Ray. It stars Dritiman Chatterjee, Kalyan Chatterjee, Soumitra Chatterjee, and Anindita Chatterjee among others.
Ace Indian director Govindan Aravindan's 1978's Malayalam movie "Thamp" was also screened on May 21 at the Cannes Classics section. The movie was restored under the Film Heritage Mission in India.
