‘Nona Joler Kabbo’ screened for fishermen before release
After receiving a lot of appreciation internationally in renowned film festivals, Rezwan Shahriar Sumit directorial "Nona Joler Kabbo" (The Salt in Our Waters) will hit theatres on November 26. But before the film gets theatrical release, a special screening was held for fishermen, whose lives are reflected in the film. On Monday, November 22, the administrator Mohammad Kamal Hossain along with 600 audience, watched the film at fishermen community at Potuakhali, Kuakata.
"Nona Joler Kabbo" is scripted by Sumit. It features Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shatabdi Wadud, Titas Zia, and Tasnova Tamanna. Shayan Chowdhury Arnob directed the music of the film. There will be two more screenings today at the district's picnic spot and Char Gangamoti.
The film went into several festivals including the screening in the United Nation's Climate Change Conference (COP26), Busan International Film Festival, London International Film Festival, and Kolkata International Film Festival.
The director mentioned that he went to the fishing spot of Potuakhali, Kuakata, three years ago, which is on the way to extinct due to the heavy waves of the sea.
"I have met the fishermen who have participated in my film," shares Sumit. "After learning about their current life, the struggles they are going through while fishing, made me think that their life is even harder than my portrayal in the movie."
Fazlur Rahman Babu will be seen as Chairman of the village. "I believe this film will be a splendid achievement in our film fraternity," he shared.
Rezwan Shahriar Sumit and Ilan Jirard are the producers of "Nona Joler Kabbo". Associate producer of the film from Bangladesh is Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's Half Stop Down. The film is edited by Kristen Sprug (America), Luiza Pirvu (Romania) and Shankha (India).
