“Ghotona Shotto” will not be re-released
The recently released Eid special tele-fiction, "Ghotona Shotto", has stirred up negative reactions on social media from fans after it was uploaded on CMV's YouTube channel post television release. Many have claimed that the telefilm has showcased insensitivity towards children with special needs.
An online discussion was recently organised by the team of "Ghotona Shotto". As per the discussion, the team has decided that this tele-fiction will not be re-released. Their statement also says that the team commits to creating content that will shed light on the issues that lead to social awareness in this regard.
The Robel Hasan directorial is based on a couple who mislead the others around them for their own benefits. Later, they birth a differently-abled child and wonder if this is the punishment or the result of their karma. The drama ends with a voiceover that claims that punishment comes in different forms and everyone has to pay for their deeds, be it good or bad, accordingly.
Shortly after the web release, the video of a woman who parents a special child, went viral on social media. Realising their mistake, the star cast, the production team, and everyone associated with this production expressed their heartfelt apologies and promised to release an amended version of "Ghotona Shotto" on YouTube, which we now know will not be released.
The tele-production had now been taken down from the YouTube channel. A joint apologetic statement was also published via Facebook by the whole team of "Ghotona Shotto".
Also, each person associated with the entertainment industry will have to preview the script before signing projects, and the producing banner, director, and actors will bar themselves from being a part of any such productions in the future.
Actors Afran Nisho and Mehazabien Chowdhury have expressed their interest to work with special children. Thus, the team and others will help them do so in the coming days.
Afran Nisho had released another statement with this recent announcement on his official Facebook page. "I am accountable for my mistakes and am ready to take full responsibility. I have learned from my mistake and promise to take note of such issues in the future," reads part of his post. "Being a father myself I love children and this one incident does not uproot all my affection or dedication for their development. I will keep working creatively to contribute more towards raising awareness in this regard and promise to work voluntarily for their development."
Mehazabien Chowdhury had released a statement on social media too. "I deeply apologise for this incident and promise to be more alert while project social messages on the screen," reads part of her statement.
