Bangladeshi film ‘Maya-The Lost Mother’ wins award in Indo-American Film Festival
Critically acclaimed movie "Maya-The Lost Mother," a film by Masud Pathik, has received two awards at the virtual Indo American International Festival of World Cinema.
National Award-winning director Masud Pathik received the award for the Best Director while the movie won the Best Picture award.
Last year, "Maya- the lost Mother" also won awards at the Indus Valley International Film Festival in Delhi for Jury Mention Director and Jury Mention Award.
"Maya- the lost Mother", which was released in December 2019, has participated in 22 film festivals and bagged 10 awards in local events and seven awards in international festivals.
The movie was inspired by Paris-based Bangladeshi artist Shahabuddin Ahmed's work, titled "Nari" and poet Kamal Chowdhury's poem, "Judhdho Shishu". It showcases the life of a woman who survived the horrors of sexual violence during the Liberation War of 1971.
The film stars Jyotika Jyoti, Tollywood actress Mumtaz Sorcar, Pran Roy, Syed Hasan Imam, Jhuna Chowdhury, Aslam Sunny, and others in pivotal roles.
