Ensure 25pc free treatment for the poor at clinics
A Supreme Court lawyer yesterday served a legal notice on the government to take necessary steps in seven days to ensure 25 percent free treatment services for poor patients at private hospitals, diagnostic centres and clinics.
JR Khan Rabin sent the notice requesting the government to stop repression upon the patients by doctors and owners of private medicals, clinics, nursing homes and diagnostic centres.
He also urged the authorities concerned to take steps to activate treatment equipment which are currently inactive in government hospitals.
Secretaries to the ministries of health, law and home and director general of Directorate of Health Services have been made respondents to the notice.
JR Khan said in the notice that he will file a writ petition with the High Court if the respondents do not take necessary steps.
