Eight houses gutted

At least eight houses were gutted in a fire at Durgapur village in Shaghata upazila early yesterday.
Locals said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a house and soon engulfed the adjoining dwellings.
On information, fire fighters rushed in and doused the blaze. UNO Abdul Awal later visited the spot and distributed Tk 3,000, sarees and lungis among the affected families.
