Ecnec okays 2nd revision
The cost of a project has been increased by 45 percent in the second revision for development of Kishoreganj municipality and beautification of a dry river in the district.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) yesterday approved the revision for the second time after completion of 75 percent work of the project “Narsundha river re-excavate and development of the area adjacent to Kishoreganj municipality”.
In the second revision, the expenditure was increased by around Tk 41 crore and the amount stood at Tk 110.85 crore, while 10 new components including six bridges and footbridges have been included.
The project to beautify the historic river has been revised under special consideration, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told reporters after the meeting.
The project was first approved by the Ecnec in October 2011 at an estimated cost of Tk 63.64 crore. Later, it was first revised in December last and the cost was increased to Tk 66.40 lakh and the deadline for its completion was June this year.
The planning ministry said the river remained dry most of the year and it had now been grabbed.
Of the 10 new components Tk 13.75 lakh has been earmarked for six bridges and footbridges, Tk 2.50 crore for a river observation town, Tk 2.50 crore for setting up parks and benches.
Ecnec at the meeting yesterday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved a total of six projects involving a total cost of Tk 7,839 crore. Of those three projects are for expansion of rural electricity lines in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.
