Eat Healthy, Live Well
If you've binged on fatty foods all your life, it kind of becomes difficult to know where to start when you've decided to change your diet and go healthy. These five tips will help you eat well and feel great!
1 Keep a Food Journal
Keeping a diary in which you keep note of every thing you've eating during the day helps you keep track of what you are eating. You can also identify the food items that you might need to include or remove from your diet.
2 Cut Down On Saturated Fat and Sugar
Saturated fat is found in many foods, such as hard cheese, cakes, biscuits, sausages, among others. Choose foods that contain unsaturated fats such as vegetable oils, almonds, olive oil, etc. Also, when you are having meat, be sure to cut off any visible fat from it.
3 Eat Slowly
Your mom was right when she asked you to eat your food slowly. You can savour your food this way and definitely eat less. If you find it hard to not gulp down your food, just remember to chew for a bit longer or cut your food into smaller pieces.
4 Eat Less Salt
You could cut down on salt intake by looking at the food labels. More than 15grams of salt per 100grams means that your food is high in salt. Remember, you should not eat more than 6grams of salt everyday.
5 Eat Regular Meals
If you think that skipping a meal will help you lose weight, you are far off the mark. Not eating regular meals can lead to out of control hunger pangs, resulting in overeating. Also, you tend to forget about nutritional value of the food when you are really hungry.
