DU's MCJ dept celebrates 51st anniversary
The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) of Dhaka University yesterday celebrated its 51st founding anniversary with a call to promote the practice of objective journalism to help build the country.
Addressing a discussion on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said, "We must work to establish non-communalism in this sector and also maintain objectivity while reporting any event."
Championing the country's journalism education, the department has produced hundreds of talented journalists and media professionals throughout more than half of a century since 1962.
Dean of Social Sciences Faculty Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed and MCJ department Chairperson Prof Akhter Sultana, among others, were present at the programme in the TSC auditorium.
A gala cultural event, reception to freshers, and farewell to the outgoing batch marked the celebrations.
Hundreds of current and former students cheered during the programme, also joined by teachers and office staff of the department.
