Documentary screening and conversation on SM Sultan
Under the title “Second Sight”, an exhibition showcasing selected works by S.M. Sultan from the private collection of Abul Khair, is on at Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct. On May 23, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG Founder and Chairperson, BRAC together with Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman inaugurated the exhibition that will end on July 23.
The programmes surrounding the exhibition featured a flute recital, classical vocal music performance, poetry recitation along with conversations and film screenings. The concluding events for “Second Sight” have been scheduled as screening of a documentary film “Adam Surat” to be held at 3:30pm on July 12.
In a 24-minute interview with Tareque Masud by the river Chitra, Masud talked about how he and his friends made “Adam Surat”, Masud's first film, a documentary about the artist S.M. Sultan. A conversation titled “Prakriti and Purusha: gender in the work of S.M. Sultan” will follow at 4pm, the same day.
The session will include Dhali Al Mamoon, artist and Professor, Department of Fine Arts, University of Chittagong; Dr. Salimullah Khan, Professor, Department of General Education at ULAB, Dhaka and Dr. Dina Siddiqi, Professor, Department of Anthropology at BRAC University, Dhaka as discussants.
