Dismissal gets delightful with flashy stumps

Just when Dhaka & Chittagong got glitzy and flashy with LED lights, apparently the same fever caught in the stadiums of ICC T20 World Cup 2014 too. Why do I say that? Just have a look at the stumps on the crease. These hi-tech pieces of timbers are now decked with LEDs and microprocessors. Loaded with impact sensors, these visual delights flicker on the faintest impact (And by faintest I mean 1/1000 of a second when the wicket is broken) .These stumps, patented innovation by Zing -an Australian firm, were first seen in the Australian Premier League- Big Bash last year. These stumps, riding the fast lane, got ICC's approval in July 2013.  The stumps first officially were introduce for the big leagues in ICC  Under-19 World Cup this year.

So how much does these cost? According to Bronte Eckermann, the mind behind Zing Stump System, “We have $40,000 worth of patented technology out on the field at each game and that is a lot of money. Each bail costs as much as an iPhone,” Yup , you read it right.
Despite all the plus points, there are some controversies associated for using the LED zing bails. These bails having low voltage batteries, are heavier that the traditional wooden bails. But they also are slightly lighter than those wooden ones that are used in the matches where wind is heavy.
Well, we don't know how that affects us, the viewers; all we can say is T20  World Cup just to hi-teched!
