Disgruntled BCL job seekers lock office

A group of job seekers yesterday locked the civil surgeon (CS) office, demanding cancellation of the recently published results of the selected candidates for jobs in different posts in the CS office.
Around 40-50 people, mostly BCL men, gathered in front of the office in the town at around 9:30am and locked the main entrance to the CS office, alleging that the staff recruitment process was unfair.
“The process of hiring staff for the CS office was not fair,” said BCL activist Md Kayum Hasan, who appeared in the written test held on March 28 this year and failed to qualify himself for the post of storekeeper. He demanded cancellation of all appointments in the office.
The BCL men didn't allow some newly appointed staff to submit their joining letters and forced them to leave the office premises.
“We had to wait outside the office for hours together as the job seekers, who have failed to qualify themselves for different posts in the CS office, kept the main gate under lock and key,” said Md Shahjahan, cashier of the CS office.
Contacted, Civil Surgeon Fakrul Alam said he joined the office recently and was not at all involved with the recruitment process.
