Defeated AL man's gang cuts tendons of JCD leader
Tendons of two legs and one hand of a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader were severed allegedly by the activists of Awami League in Charghat upazila on Sunday night, centering the March 15 election.
After the AL backed chairman candidate lost in the third phase election in the upazila, activists of BNP swooped on AL men and injured three supporters of their rival party.
A polling booth was also shut by the authorities during the clash.
As a sequel to March 15 clash, a gang allegedly belonging to AL, stabbed a local leader of JCD and cut off the tendons, local sources said.
The victim was identified as Rocky, 26, son of Shamsher Ali of Miapur area in Charghat upazila and Joint Secretary of Charghat municipal unit JCD.
Officer in-charge of Charghat Model Police Station Golam Mortuza said, Rocky came under attack in front of the PDC Government Primary School around 8:30pm while he was returning to his home in Miapur.
